Be “The Voice of Port Industries by becoming a member of the Virginia Maritime Association (VMA), the premier business organization dedicated to enhancing competitiveness and promoting commerce through Virginia’s ports.

Founded in 1920, VMA has grown to represent nearly 500 companies that employ over 70,000 Virginians. The VMA is the industry’s advocate on policy, regulatory and legislative actions at the local, state and federal levels; affecting a pro-business environment for our ports and the maritime industry. As the industry’s watchdog, VMA constantly monitors and protects against issues and developments harmful to your business, allowing you to focus on your company’s business growth.  Membership in VMA gives your business a voice in the political and public arena decisions that impact the business environment and your company. 



MEMBERSHIP

Standard membership includes one (1) designated representative. Additional representation is available at an additional cost per representative.The VMA Membership Committee determines annual dues based up the criteria listed below:

Those involved in Vessel or Marine Terminal Operations   
  Involved in Moving Cargo or Maritime/Supply Chain-related Services Warehousing, Transportation, or business services targeted to vessel or terminal operations or moving cargo
  Business Services 
Other than Maritime/Supply Chain Related
 Non-Profit Organization  
   Additional Representative  
   Future Leader The Future Leaders program grooms maritime professionals 40 and under through participation in special programs, tours, and socials designed to expose them to all the facets of the maritime industry and build their professional network. Companies can utilize this discounted rate for two years per future leader. Learn More


 

Anchor
Anchor Level Membership

Anchor Memberships are available to any member company wishing to enhance its support of VMA’s efforts to protect the interests of Virginia’s maritime industry and commercial ports. In addition to the standard membership benefits, these members receive more recognition, complimentary event reservations, and more! Our four anchor member levels are Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Chapters: Statewide Access

VMA membership stretches statewide, pulling members in from 5 different regions. Regional meetings are setup to make us more accessible outside of Hampton Roads, and all members are encouraged to participate in these meetings! Step outside your zone and meet a potential new business partner!

 

Committees: Contribute Your Voice

Membership in the VMA offers the opportunity to add your voice to our diverse committee structure. We are prepared to address any subject relating to port operations, waterborne commerce, and the supply chain.

 

Events: Attend & Sponsor

VMA hosts events throughout the year to facilitate networking opportunities, and to provide education and training. These include Maritime Mixers, Membership Briefings, Lunch and Learns, the International Trade Symposium, Golf Outings, the Annual Business Meeting, and the Annual Maritime Banquet.

The VMA offers a series of affinity programs, via our partners, to bring members discounted rates at gyms, clubs, hotels, a 401K program and more.

 

Facility: Our Space is Open to You

Members are able to book meeting rooms (based on availability) within the VMA building located at 236 East Plume Street, Norfolk, VA 23464. 

 

Publications: Print, Web, & Email

The VMA provides members with resources to stay current with industry affairs, association activities, potential networking opportunities and more. These publications offer your business additional visibility opportunities through advertising.

 

VITAL: Trade Missions

Through VEDP | Internationals VITAL program, VMA members are able to participate on trade missions. The program helps both new and experienced exporters enter new international markets by identifying new markets, developing market entry strategies and locating distributors and representatives for products or services. 

 


 

Maritime Leadership Certification Program

The Maritime Leadership Certification Program (MLCP) provides professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the maritime industry, a network of key industry stakeholders, and critical leadership skills. By application only. Limited space available.
