On the behalf of the Virginia Harbor Safety Committee, we encourage you to read and share the linked document about "Think 60 - Cold Water Danger," to anyone who works or plays on the water.
The National Weather Service, in conjunction with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Sector Virginia, developed the "THINK 60 - Cold Water Danger" paddle craft risk program to identify the combination of "fair" warm days when a significant number of paddle crafts are expected on the water when waters remain cold, increasing the risk of drowning from capsize incidents.
The program encourages everyone to monitor social media for #paddlecraftrisk and #think60, and when there is a cold water danger - paddle craft risk in your area, to take the necessary precautions.
