Formerly known as U.S. Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads, the unit announced on December 10, 2019 that their name changed to “U.S. Coast Guard Sector Virginia.” The new name better reflects their full area of responsibility, which includes coastal areas, bays, rivers, and lakes within Virginia, not limited to only Hampton Roads.
The unit confirmed that all their mailing addresses and phone numbers are unchanged, and that while emails will slowly change in the future, existing email addresses will continue to work. The Sector Virginia Command Center may still be reached on VHF-FM Channel 16 or by calling 757-483-8567.
The team at Sector Virginia is comprised of nearly 480 Active Duty and civilian personnel, 130 Reservists and 1300 Auxiliarists. Sector personnel are located on Base Portsmouth and in the downtown Norfolk Federal Building.
