VMA Announces New Certificate Program for Industry Professionals
Monday, October 15, 2018
The Virginia Maritime Association is proud to announce the “Future Leaders Certificate Program.” Participants will graduate with a comprehensive understanding of the maritime industry, a network of key industry stakeholders, and critical leadership skills.
The certificate program will run in conjunction with the current VMA Future Leaders group; however, participants will have additional access to expert industry leaders and opportunities to gain critical leadership skills through the certificate program.
While joining VMA at the Future Leader membership level is for the forty and under crowd, the certificate program will invite those new to the maritime industry to apply with no age restriction, thus making it the perfect opportunity for career switchers.
The program is designed to be completed over two years, however, it is possible to complete in one. Participants will be required to attend twelve industry segment sessions, eight leadership sessions, one out of region and one legislative session, in addition to volunteering at a LogisXGames.
Applications for this first cohort will be available October 2018, with the program running through May 2020. The second class will apply in spring 2019 and the program will run from June 2019 to May 2021.
The certificate program has been designed through the collaboration of current Future Leaders under the leadership of Chair Camille Crofton-Cherry. Thank you to Camille’s steering team: Max Devnew, Terrell Moses, Will Russell, Chris Ruddick, Kelsey Host, and Jake Barrett.
