VIDEO | Fox News covers the widening and deepening of Virginia's channels, stressing the importance of this project.

"Widening and deepening the port is not only great for commerce, but also for port safety," said Captain Richard Wester of the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Virginia Maritime Association, alongside the U.S. Coast Guard and the Virginia Port Authority, continues to advocate for Virginia's ports, seeking federal funding to continue the project's momentum.

"It [Virginia's ports] could be one of the best in the world if they [Federal  Government] invested not that much money, relatively speaking" said President Donald Trump.

"This is about global trade for America," said Cathie Vick, Virginia Port Authority. "With about 33% of our cargo going into the midwest on rail, it's really about reducing prices for consumers."
