CMA CGM THEODORE ROOSEVELT

PORTSMOUTH | Monday, August 28, the CMA CGM Theodore Roosevelt pulled into Virginia International Gateways. With a length of 336 m (1200.79 ft) and a beam of 48 m (157.48 ft), the Roosevelt beats out all the other large ships already calling on Virginia as part of the New Era of Larger Ships.

14,400 TEUs can fit aboard the vessel, significantly surpassing the COSCO Development’s 13,092, which arrived back in May. This opportunity to bring in bigger ships exists due to projects like Port of Virginia’s terminal expansion projects, of which VMA advocated for the $350 million in funding that they received in support, and the deepening and widening of our channels (learn about 55in5).
