TWIC Program Update

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

The VMA is a founding member of the National Association of Maritime Organizations (NAMO) which is comprised of maritime-related organizations throughout the United States and represents its members at a national level in all matters affecting foreign or domestic waterborne commerce using U.S. ports. During a recent NAMO meeting the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) gave a presentation entitled "Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Program Update.”

Highlights of the TWIC presentation included:

  • Latest Program Statistics
  • Contract Status
  • Extended Expiration Date (EED) TWICs
  • Mobile Enrollments
  • Enroll Your Own (EYO)
  • TWIC Reader Update

Further, the VMA has been asked to highlight the following information:

1. Due to the large number of transportation workers requesting EED TWICs, TSA requests that applicants order an EED TWIC no sooner than 4 months prior to their current TWIC expiration date. If their card expires within 4 months and you would like to order an EED TWIC, please call the TWIC Help Desk at 1-866-DHS-TWIC (1-866-347-8942).

2. Companies or entities interested in receiving TWIC mobile enrollment and bulk payment options, should contact Stephen Foster, Lockheed Martin TWIC Operations Manager, at (703)663-5105 or Stephen.l.foster@lmco.comto inquire about these arrangements.
